Tired plaster, and what Buckeye sun does to it
Plaster pools in the West Valley take a beating. Sun, hot water and years of chemistry wear the surface down until it feels rough under bare feet, looks blotchy, and holds onto stains that no brush will lift. Etched plaster is also harder to keep clean, because algae and scale find plenty to grip. A coating is one way to deal with that, and it starts with an honest look at the shell.
Not every worn pool needs one. If the problem is surface staining on otherwise sound plaster, an acid wash may be the better fit. If the water itself is the issue, a drain and fill comes first. We look at the surface before recommending anything, and we will say plainly when a coating is not the right call. Text a photo to (623) 695-9199 and we will tell you what we see.
Epoxy pool paint: the prep decides how long it lasts
Epoxy pool paint is a coating that bonds to the plaster and seals it. The catch is that it only holds as well as the surface underneath. The pool is drained, the shell is washed and cleaned back to bare, sound plaster, and old chalky or flaking material has to come off before anything new goes on. Skipping that step is where most coating failures start.
Then the coat goes on in controlled passes, followed by curing time before water returns. Cure rules depend on the product used and on the weather, and in an Arizona summer the heat changes how fast things move. We follow the product's own instructions rather than rushing a pool back into service, because filling early is how a fresh coating gets damaged.
Water colour, quotes and the other ways to fix a shell
A coating changes more than the feel of the surface. It changes the colour of the water, because the colour you see comes from the shell behind it. A pale finish reads as light turquoise. A deeper shade reads darker and richer. Colour samples are worth looking at in daylight, next to your own deck and landscaping, before you commit to one.
We do not publish prices, because a coating job depends on the size of the pool and the shape the plaster is in. We look first, then give you one flat quote.
